Noumenon Dance Ensemble is committed to fostering a collaborative environment for professional dancers and choreographers. Its mission is to elevate female and gender non-conforming dance artists, promoting the growth of these artists through inspiration and opportunity. Noumenon Dance Ensemble has gained recognition from local and regional festivals for the athleticism and choreographic originality of it’s work.

In 2018, Erin Murphy assumed the role of Artistic Director, making 2018-2019 the first season under her leadership.

Noumenon Dance Ensemble (NDE) was founded by Kristi Andarcia in 2014 as an initiative to create dance with purposeful and athletic intent in the jazz discipline. In its inaugural year, NDE performed at several local festivals and has since been admired for the choreography of it's previous Artistic Directors, Kristi Andarcia (2014-2015) and Alia Simon Montijo (2015-2018).

During the 2015-2018 seasons, Noumenon Dance Ensemble commissioned 7 choreographic explorations from female choreographers and choreographers of color, and presented repertoire in 5 self-produced evening-length concerts across the Chicagoland area.

Additionally, in 2015 and 2016 Noumenon Dance Ensemble produced the choreographic competition “New Moves”, providing the Chicago dance community a performance platform for emerging choreographers.
